My little Pekingese,Precious Lady, (which by the way, she isn't always that) is turning 15 years old today. I've been so fortunate to have had her with me all these years. She is the best companion ever, always glad to see me, never talks back, listens intently, and has an undying love for me. Do you have a favorite pet?

My fave is a pair.. twins.. lol.. I have always tried to get shelter pets and not breeders or pet stores, however I was young and my boyfriend at the time wanted a Siamese cat. Well I went to the ladies house and fell in love with this one that had the biggest blue eyes, and the breeder showed me his sister and she was hilarious looking. Her eyes were so crossed, her head would bob up/down and sideways. I was smitten and took both blue point Siamese home and names the male Tuchuk and his sister was Lola.
I had friends that did not like cats but Tuchuk acted so like a dog that all fell in love with him. He came when called, he did tricks and was very manipulative in getting his way. Lola was the hunter of the two and brought us home many live birds/mouses that I had to save and let back out of the house. I finally had to close their in/out cat door at night because I was tired of getting up in the middle of the night and chasing Lola while naked to save a poor mouse.. lol
I still remember how Tuchuk would lay on my hubby's foot while he was moving around the kitchen cooking. He looked like a mophead swishing around the tile.. lol.. my hubby has enormous feed.. lol
I have had many pets and all have had their quirks and personalities, but I find that some have such incredible HUGE personalities, that they stand out.. and these two surely did.. I still smile every time I think of them.

That's so admirable that you adopt shelter animals. I'm so grateful for people like you..so many animals are abused. Your story is hilarious regarding the cats... |

Since Farah is gone....I posted it elsewere....my only favourite, a cat of course, is Patti (named after the wonderful Patti Smith)...she appeared in the place I work someday....and she went like *moan* at me...looking at me with big eyes and a fur of three colours (black red and goldenbrown). Well, after some weeks in a shelter (waiting for an owner) I took her home with me. Now...at this very moment...she ist lying on a little chair next to my feet...sleeping and snoring.....she is a girl with some character....I tell you! |

Well saucy..it's hard for me to find the right words on such an occasion in german..it's even harder to find them in english. Let me put it this way: My warmest compassionate feelings may surround you like a big embrace....or like sitting around a fireplace with a multitude of friends to keep you cozy and warm....warm in your heart...while you have a picture of your dog right before your mental eye...where she is running on a green meadow enjoying her life like I'm sure she did when she was still around. And yes, it's a comforting and nice idea that your dog and my cat might become good friends... :-) |

Wow.. just reading the posts and all I could think about for both Farah and Saucy is this quote below.
"Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened. " (Anatole France)
While we love and lose our beloved pets, we are better people for the experience. I am sending you both good thoughts and warm hugs..
